ORBITAL Academy is the creative idea of Dewayne Greenwood, who worked for years with software development teams and witnessed their struggle to communicate their best ideas and expertise with decision-makers.
Many times, he would see a communication gap between decision-makers and development teams that caused tension and general unhappiness. Teams would feel they were not accurately heard, and sometimes found themselves working on solutions they knew were not the best way forward. As a result of this gap, decision-makers would also struggle with solutions and general team engagement.
To help solve this problem, Dewayne set out to create a course that would take team members through a learning journey to help them better understand the business implications of their work. He wanted to teach teams how to communicate with business leaders using a shared vocabulary so that they could contribute more to strategy and critical decision-making. He also wanted to help teams build the high-trust relationships they need to have with decision-makers to influence better outcomes.
The result was the creation of a self-paced online training course called CREATING WITH A CONSULTING MINDSET.
Why ORBITAL Academy?
In order for a rocket to push its payload into orbit (the goal), it must have all its parts working together (the team) to produce enough thrust to gain orbital velocity.
